Tip of the Day 5/7/10

Always pay attention at the checkout (or check your receipt before you leave the store).

I went grocery shopping last night and the cashier rang up one of my items twice. I was also overcharged for two items. Since it was only 20 cents (and I had a restless toddler with me) I decided to let it go, but under other circumstances I would have been at customer service. Some stores have a policy that if an item does not ring up correctly, it’s free. Does your store do this?

Oh, yes I have that problem all the time. On my last grocery shopping the cashier was ringing up some of the onion as the wrong kind. It was just one of those days, where I did not pay close enough attention, because I had my two little ones with me.

I used to go to a different grocery chain (Winn-Dixie) and they ALWAYS made mistakes, and it was always to their favor as it was items not ringing up at sale price. Every time I went, I would have to spend 20 minutes at the customer service to get it figured out. Needless to say, I rarely shop there anymore.

The stores around here do not give you the item free, other wise I surely would get lots of stuff for free.

I often have coupons that dont get deducted for some reason. I have to really remember which coupons I hand over and make sure they are on the receipt before I leave the store. Many coupons make the same beep whether they are being accepted or rejected and the cashiers dont check.
