Tip of the Day 8/19/10 – My dressing “room”

Create your own “dressing room.”

Ok, so it’s not really a room, but a small corner of our bedroom where a chair used to sit. I love it! All my hubby did was hang an old coat rack on the wall. Now I have a place to hang my outfits for the week so I can sleep for an extra 15 minutes every morning 🙂

Planning my outfits ahead of time really makes me use more of the items in my closet. (And I have a very full closet, thanks to my love of clearance shopping). Before I started thinking ahead, I would wear the same things over and over again because I was in a hurry. Most of the time, I would end up hating my outfit all day.

So how does this relate to saving money?
1. I wear more items in my closet, therefore lowering the cost per wear and getting more for my investment.
2. If I can’t create a cute outfit around an item, I donate it and get the tax deduction.
3. It saves time. Time = Money.

I always hear the statement that most people “wear 20% of their closet, 80% of the time.” That’s not me anymore, thanks to my hubby’s ability to wield a hammer. Now all I need is a nice little shoe rack for the floor and my dressing corner will be complete!

What a great idea…..I find myself spending a lot of time in the closet too looking for something to wear!
